自作LoRAで広がる表現と今後の可能性
Moss-Imageにも、完璧でない部分があります。画風を完全には固定できないのです。同じプロンプトでも、シード値が変わると、毎回別の人になるということが普通に起こります。参考画像を使って生成できるリファレンスモデルを開発中であることが明らかにされており、今後、人物の一貫性などを高められるようになるかもしれません。
一方で、LoRAによる追加学習は推奨されています。公式には、Baseモデルは「学習情報を保持し、コミュニティがLoRAを学習しやすくするために、後処理やCFG蒸留を施していない」と説明されています。画像AIのオープンウエイトモデルでは、軽量化などのために性能を落として公開することで、LoRAの効きが悪くなる場合も多いのですが、そうした処理は施されていないようです。
すでに、LoRA学習用ツールとして知られている「AI Toolkit／Ostris」など、様々なツールが対応しています。筆者は、「kohya sd-scripts」を使って、LoRAを学習してみました。
筆者は画風LoRAを2種類作ってみることにしました。一つは2年あまり前に生成していたメカやロボットの画像40枚を使ったメカLoRAです。もう一つはアニメイラスト風の生成画像40枚を使ったアニメLoRAです。RTX 4090搭載PCで学習を行いました。kohya sd-scriptsは操作や設定がなかなか難しいのですが、これもすべての作業をGPT-6 Astraに行わせたところ、学習データの選別とタグ付けまで行うことができ、以前に比べて、かなり簡単に扱えるようになっています。
約1時間半、2000ステップ程度で学習を終え、強度1の設定で生成してみたところ、十分に効果がありました。Moss-ImageのLoRAは、学習した結果を非常に素直に反映し、LoRAを組み合わせることで、大きく化けるという印象を受けました。そのままでは、実写系は、中国人女性のグラビアのような雰囲気にまとまりやすい印象があって不満を感じていたのですが、自作LoRAを組み合わせるとそうした雰囲気はほとんどなくなります。
また、従来のオープンウエイトモデルが苦手とすることが多い複雑な形状の構造物を描写する能力も高く、LoRAを組み合わせても、自転車や鉄橋などの形は、破綻することなく維持されています。

Moss-Imageは、公開からわずか10日でダウンロード数が約200万に達しています。筆者は、基本性能が非常に高い上に、ライセンスの自由度もかなり高いことを考えると、今後、高い人気を得る画像AIモデルになるのは間違いないと考えています。LoRAや追加学習モデルも次々に公開され、さらに様々なサービスに採用されることで、普及が後押しされるでしょう。オープンウエイトモデルのなかのNanoBanana的な存在になる可能性は高いと考えます。
一方で、これほど強力なモデルが、無償で公開されると、画像AIモデル単体では事業化が難しい段階に入りつつあることも感じます。画像AIの技術やビジネスが成熟へと向かっている兆しのようにも思えます。
