米Google は2017年7月26日、ユーザーが検索キーワードを入力中に自動的に検索結果を表示する Google Instant（グーグル・インスタント）機能を終了することを明らかにした。
Google Instant は2010年9月に追加された機能（関連記事：米Google、「Googleインスタント検索」を発表）。パソコンで検索する時に、ユーザーが入力中の単語を予測して（検索ボタンを押さなくても）検索結果を表示していた。
Google Instant はパソコンのキーボードでキーワードを入力することが前提の機能だ。しかし今日の検索の過半数は画面をタッチしたり音声入力するモバイル端末から行われている。Google広報担当によると、こうした入力方法やスクリーン、インタラクションの変化を踏まえ、Google Instant を削除する決定をした。
We launched Google Instant back in 2010 with the goal to provide users with the information they need as quickly as possible, even as they typed their searches on desktop devices. Since then, many more of our searches happen on mobile, with very different input and interaction and screen constraints.
