ASUS Japan will launch the 'ROG Rapture GT-BN98' Wi-Fi 8 gaming router from its Republic of Gamers (ROG) gaming brand on October 30, exclusively on Amazon. Positioned as the world's first gaming router to support the next-generation wireless standard Wi-Fi 8, it boasts up to 34% latency reduction via AI Game Boost and features dual 10G ports. This product aims to provide a stable communication environment for streaming and competitive gaming.
At the core of its communication performance is the three-stage game acceleration feature, 'AI Game Boost.' This combines 'Device Optimization,' which automatically detects and prioritizes devices connected to wired, wireless, and gaming ports; 'Adaptive QoE,' which allocates bandwidth according to network conditions and application demands; and 'GTNet,' which selects the fastest route to game servers, all designed to minimize latency from the device to the server. Furthermore, it features a 2.6GHz quad-core CPU and eight external antennas, a configuration designed to easily distribute processing load even in environments with numerous simultaneously connected devices.
The wireless specifications feature a quad-band configuration (2.4GHz, dual 5GHz, and 6GHz), supporting a total of 16 streams. On the 6GHz band, it claims a theoretical maximum communication speed of 11,529Mbps with 320MHz width and 4096-QAM. Additionally, it is equipped with one 10Gbps WAN/LAN port, one 10Gbps gaming port, and four 2.5Gbps ports. It also supports link aggregation up to 20Gbps, multi-WAN auto-detection, and network segmentation via VLAN. A key feature is its ability to facilitate both high-speed communication and streamlined home network management simultaneously.

Regarding cooling, it is said to have improved heat dissipation performance by up to 35% through the adoption of an aluminum top plate that is up to 30% thicker, an enhanced nanocarbon layer, and a leg design that improves ventilation. For management features, in addition to AiProtection, which supports malicious site blocking, two-way IPS, and ad/tracker blocking, it includes Client Insight for viewing traffic usage, WiFi Insight for recording interference history for 24 hours, and Guest Network Pro for easily creating networks for IoT devices, children, and VPNs. Note that some Wi-Fi 8 features will be supported in future firmware updates.
