ASUS Japan will launch the "ROG Rapture GT-BN98," a gaming router compatible with the next-generation wireless standard Wi-Fi 8, from its Republic of Gamers (ROG) gaming brand. It will be available exclusively on Amazon starting October 30th, priced at 180,727 yen (including 1% Amazon points). The product features a 2.6GHz quad-core CPU, eight external antennas, and two 10Gbps ports, boasting up to a 34% reduction in latency through AI Game Boost.
A core feature of the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 is its design prioritizing game communication. AI Game Boost automatically detects and prioritizes gaming devices connected via wired, wireless, or gaming ports, and further optimizes communication paths and bandwidth by combining "Adaptive QoE" and "GTNet." This configuration aims to progressively streamline communication from the device to the server, thereby improving responsiveness in online competitive play.
Its wireless performance is also high. With a quad-band configuration of 2.4GHz, dual 5GHz, and 6GHz, it supports a total of 16 streams (4x4 per band). In the 6GHz band, it claims to achieve a theoretical maximum communication speed of 11,529Mbps through 320MHz bandwidth and 4096-QAM. Additionally, it is equipped with a 10Gbps WAN/LAN port, a 10Gbps gaming port, and four 2.5Gbps ports, supporting link aggregation up to 20Gbps and multi-WAN.
Regarding heat dissipation, it claims to have improved thermal performance by up to 35% through a thickened aluminum top plate, an enhanced nanocarbon layer, and a leg design optimized for airflow. Management features are also extensive, including AiProtection, which supports malicious site blocking, two-way IPS, and ad/tracker blocking, as well as Guest Network Pro, Client Insight, and WiFi Insight. The product has obtained technical conformity certification (giteki) based on Japan's Radio Law, and some Wi-Fi 8 features are expected to be supported sequentially through future firmware updates.
