Ratoc System will begin shipping its "RS-MR48EX" pro-media specification memory card reader/writer unit, which connects via USB 3.2 Gen2, from late October. Compatible media include UHS-II SD cards, microP2, CFexpress, XQD, U.2 SSDs, SATA SSDs, and USB Type-C storage. The price is 151,800 yen.
The RS-MR48EX is designed for video production and professional applications that handle multiple recording media. It supports USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps), enabling high-speed data transfer that leverages the performance of increasingly fast UHS-II SD cards, CFexpress, and U.2 SSDs. A key feature is its ability to consolidate all media needs into a single unit, eliminating the need for dedicated reader/writers for each media type.
Furthermore, it features individual controllers for each supported media type, allowing for simultaneous access. For instance, you can connect a UHS-II SD card and a U.2 SSD concurrently and transfer data between them. The front of the unit is equipped with Power/Access LEDs, providing an at-a-glance view of power and access status. With an integrated USB Type-C cable, it's designed for easy connection to laptops, desktop PCs, and tower PCs.
A dedicated Windows 11-compatible HotPlug tool, "MR48HotPlugTool," is also provided. This is said to make it easier to safely attach and detach media from within Windows.
