FamilyMart is launching three new sweets featuring its 'Mugen Cream' at stores nationwide today, October 20.
The first wave, released last week, sold over 3 million units in just six days. As for the highly anticipated second wave, the 'Melting Pudding Drowning in Cream' is simply overflowing with it.
FamilyMart's Second Wave of 'Mugen Cream'! Including a Pudding Packed with Cream
Since October 13, FamilyMart has been progressively releasing products that use its 'Mugen Cream,' which has been revamped for the first time in eight years.
The 'Mugen Cream' was developed to achieve both a rich flavor and a light, smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture. It is a general term for the newly revamped whipped cream and a uniquely blended fresh cream.
Last week saw the introduction of three items, including cream puffs and roll cakes. Starting today, three more items – an eclair, a pudding, and a crepe – will join the lineup as the second wave. Nabeko sampled them at a tasting event.
▲ 'Double Cream Eclair' 298 yen An eclair filled with rich, light, melt-in-your-mouth 'Mugen Cream' (whipped cream) and custard cream. It's designed for enjoying both types of cream together. By piping the whipped cream in a swirling motion instead of straight, the amount used has been increased compared to last year's release.
▲ 'Melting Pudding Drowning in Cream' 248 yen The familiar 'Kamadashi Melting Pudding' is generously topped with 'Mugen Cream' (whipped cream). The ratio of cream has been increased so that the cream itself becomes a star of the dessert.
There's so much cream piled on top that you might struggle to reach the pudding even after digging in with a spoon!
▲ 'Famima The Crepe Nama Chocolate' 270 yen A crepe filled with rich, light, melt-in-your-mouth Mugen Cream and smooth nama chocolate. The cream, which previously played a supporting role to the nama chocolate, now has a more prominent presence.
Since all the creams have a light and smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture, a key feature is that even with a generous amount of cream, the aftertaste isn't heavy.
First Wave Exceeds 3 Million Units Sold in 6 Days
Furthermore, the three items from the first wave of 'Mugen Cream,' released on October 13, surpassed a cumulative 3 million units sold in just six days. This reportedly marks the fastest record in Famimaru Sweets history.
