At Marugame Seimen, freshly boiled udon noodles are prepared in two distinct styles to suit the characteristics of their dishes: "Kamanuki" and "Shime."

For this free giveaway, customers will receive a one-bite portion of udon prepared in the opposite style to the udon they ordered. This initiative, a first for Marugame Seimen, allows customers to compare the textural differences between the two udon styles: "Kamanuki" and "Shime."

"Kamanuki" refers to udon noodles scooped directly from the boiling pot after cooking. This method retains the slight fuzziness on the noodle surface and results in a plump, moisture-rich texture, characterized by its fluffy softness and chewy consistency.

On the other hand, "Shime" involves chilling the freshly boiled noodles in cold water, which tightens them, creating distinct edges and a firm texture. This method is said to provide a smooth, satisfying slurp.
