Has Time Stood Still Here?! Immersed in Retro RPG Nostalgia

Stepping into the KEMCO booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026, a sight that would make any RPG fan grin spread out before them.

What caught the eye were the rows of cassette-style exhibits. And because they were sparkling, it was enough to get any retro game fan excited. It was interesting how, despite being an event for the latest games, it made you feel as if you were peering into an old game shop.

KEMCO is a game brand developed by Kotobuki Solution. Having been involved in the game business since 1984, they currently develop titles across a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2 / Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 / 4, Xbox, PC, and smartphones. They particularly excel at JRPGs, offering a rich lineup of over 100 titles both domestically and internationally.

Playable Demos Too! Get a Head Start on New RPGs

Not only can you admire the exhibits, but being able to actually try out new titles is also a welcome feature. At TGS2026, titles such as METRO QUESTER ZERO, Alphadia F, Stellar Code, and Depth Loop are featured in the lineup.

Among them, METRO QUESTER ZERO is a hack-and-slash & dungeon exploration RPG set in a decadent future world built by manga artist Kazushi Hagiwara. It's a title aiming for the excitement reminiscent of 80s PC games and is scheduled for release in early spring 2027.

Furthermore, Alphadia F is a remake of the fourth installment in the series for home consoles. If you're a fan of the classic JRPG atmosphere, you'll want to check this one out too.

Novelty items are also prepared for visitors who try the demos, with clear files, bags, stickers, and can badges available for each title.

Flashy new hardware and ultra-high-definition graphics are great. But when you see pixel art and worlds that feel like classic RPGs, you just feel a sense of calm. While gazing at the sparkling cassette-style exhibits, the KEMCO booth, where you could even play new RPGs, was a very comfortable space for retro game fans.
