Sexual harassment targeting a Hololive VTuber has come to light. On October 20, Cover Corp., the agency managing Hololive, explained the circumstances behind Laplace Darkness's October 17 post on X (formerly Twitter) and announced a policy of strict action, including consultation with the police and potential legal measures.

On the 17th, Laplace posted "To the perverted male otaku." She explained that while dirty jokes with friends and seniors are acceptable due to the nature of those relationships and the sense of security among people of the same gender, her relationship with viewers is not the same. She urged them to refrain from making sexually harassing remarks in public. The post also included the phrase, "I'm not interested in males."

According to Cover Corp., unsolicited sexual images exposing private parts had been sent to Laplace's account. Similar acts had occurred in the past, and she impulsively made the post to express a strong will of refusal. The company has categorized the sending of such images as malicious harassment.

Meanwhile, Cover Corp. also explained that some expressions in the post lacked consideration for viewers. While being mindful of the harassment she experienced, the company discussed with Laplace her choice of words, manner of communication, and the importance of consulting the company when unsure about making a post. Laplace also stated in her October 20 X post that she received guidance regarding misleading phrasing and word choice and is reflecting on it.

The company urged users to refrain from defamation, sexual harassment, and aggressive behavior between individuals with differing opinions. It requested that problematic posts not be spread, and instead be reported via each service's reporting function or the company's dedicated contact point.
