GMO Internet announced on October 21st that its "Onamae.com Desktop Cloud" service experienced unauthorized access by a third party. Malicious programs were installed on some users' servers, with a potential impact on 26,739 servers. To prevent further damage, servers for all plans will be sequentially shut down.
The service allows users to remotely operate virtual servers in the cloud and is commonly used for purposes such as running automated FX trading tools.
The installation of the malicious programs was confirmed on the 20th. As of the announcement, the company stated that it has not confirmed any leakage of users' personal information entrusted to them, nor any misuse of viewed information. They also stated that they do not hold payment information, including credit card details.
