GMO Internet announced its second report on October 22 regarding unauthorized access to "Onamae.com Desktop Cloud." The company has received reports from users stating that their FX (Foreign Exchange Margin Trading) accounts experienced unauthorized operations by a third party, linked to trading tools used on the server. GMO Internet is urging users to immediately change passwords for their trading tools and trading accounts, and to terminate sessions by logging off.
Onamae.com Desktop Cloud is a VPS (Virtual Private Server) service designed to run FX automated trading tools 24 hours a day. By enabling automated trading tools such as "MetaTrader 4 (MT4)" and "MetaTrader 5 (MT5)" in a Windows environment on the cloud, users can continue automated trading even when their home PC is turned off.
The company began an investigation on October 19 after receiving inquiries from users, and on October 20, confirmed the installation of unauthorized programs on some servers. Starting at 4 AM on October 21, all plan servers were sequentially shut down, and they remain offline as of the announcement on October 22. A total of 26,739 servers are potentially affected.
FX operators are also heightening their vigilance. On October 22, OANDA Securities requested customers using the service to change their trading account passwords, utilize two-factor authentication, and review their transaction history. AI Gold Securities also announced on the same day that it is strengthening its monitoring for unauthorized logins, transactions, and withdrawal requests.
GMO Internet advises users to change the passwords for their trading tools, such as MT4 and MT5, and their trading accounts from a device other than the service's server, and then log off. Users should also check their transaction history and balances, and contact their respective trading providers if they discover any unfamiliar transactions.
