Yamaha, in co-sponsorship with Cybertrust, will host a webinar on the theme of wireless LAN certificate authentication, titled "Secure Network Access Achieved with Yamaha Wireless APs x Device Certificates ~Why 'EAP-TLS' and 'Strict Device Identification' are Necessary for Wireless LAN Authentication Now?~" on October 29th via Zoom Webinar. Participation is free, requires pre-registration, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The content addresses the growing demand for device certificate-based authentication in enterprises and local governments by combining Yamaha's WLX series with Cybertrust's certificate management service "Device ID."
EAP-TLS authentication is a method that uses device certificates to connect only legitimate devices to the network. It is considered effective for deterring unauthorized device intrusion and as a countermeasure against ID/password leaks. On the other hand, in large-scale environments, an increase in simultaneous authentications and the distribution/revocation management of certificates can easily become an operational burden, sometimes requiring integration with dedicated RADIUS servers or external certificate management services. This webinar will explain how to build an easy-to-operate authentication infrastructure by leveraging the WLX series' built-in RADIUS server functionality in conjunction with Device ID.
In the verification, combining the Yamaha wireless LAN access point "WLX323" with Device ID confirmed that devices with distributed certificates connected normally, devices without certificates could not connect, and devices with revoked certificates were denied connection. Additionally, operational benefits such as certificate distribution limited to managed devices, blocking access for unnecessary devices, automatic certificate distribution and installation in conjunction with MDM, and storing the root CA certificate's private key in an HSM will be demonstrated. A key feature is that practical configuration examples for environments ranging from dozens to hundreds of devices will be provided.
The webinar will be held on October 29th from 3:30 PM to 4:10 PM. In the first part, Mr. Daisuke Baba of Yamaha's Audio Business Division, Professional Solutions Business Department, NW Promotion Department, Marketing & Sales Group, will introduce the features of Yamaha wireless LAN access points and key points for utilizing their authentication functions. In the second part, Mr. Hiroyuki Akashi, Head of Client Certificate Product Sales at Cybertrust, will explain authentication enhancement using EAP-TLS and Device ID. The venue is Zoom Webinar, allowing participation from anywhere in the country.
