On October 8, IDC Frontier released its third report regarding an unauthorized access incident, revealing that customer data stored in a portion of its East Japan Region 1 is expected to be difficult to retrieve or restore.

The incident occurred around 3:40 AM on October 7. The company confirmed the cause as a ransomware attack by a third party, which led to the shutdown of virtual servers across four zones in IDCF Cloud's East Japan Region 1. A total of 495 subscribers, including businesses and local governments, are affected.

To prevent secondary damage and data leakage, the company isolated the affected region from the network and also shut down the management console. Customers are being advised to restore data from the affected environment using their own backups. As of now, investigations are ongoing into whether data was exfiltrated and the detailed intrusion path.

While no unauthorized access has been confirmed in other regions, the management console remains suspended to investigate their safety. A recovery timeline has not been provided, and affected businesses are urged to confirm the existence of their own backups and their recovery plans.
