27-inch + 4K + 120Hz! Draw to Your Heart's Content on a Large Screen

Making its presence felt at the XPPen booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026 was the large 27-inch pen display, "Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2)". Placed on a desk, it's simply huge. It's sure to be an attractive device for creators who want to draw extensively, using a large canvas and broad arm movements.

XPPen is a digital art brand established in 2005. Currently under Hanvon UGEE, it offers pen displays, pen tablets, and styluses in 163 countries and regions worldwide. It develops products for a wide range of creative applications, including illustration, manga, animation, and 3DCG.

The Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2), which was highlighted this time, is the company's flagship-class model featuring a 27-inch 4K display. In addition to supporting 1.07 billion colors and 16K levels of pressure sensitivity, it boasts a high 120Hz refresh rate for a pen display.

According to XPPen, the 120Hz display and 5ms response time enhance pen tracking. It seems it can be used comfortably not only for detailed drawing but also for situations where you want to make bold, energetic strokes.

The "Black" on the 14-inch OLED is Different!

Another item worth noting is the 14-inch OLED pen display, "Artist Ultra 14". This one differs in direction from the 27-inch model, leveraging a 2.8K resolution OLED display and a thin, lightweight design.

What you first notice when seeing the actual product is, as expected, the excellent black reproduction. Since OLED pixels emit light themselves, they can be turned off when displaying black in that area. This results in deep, rich blacks and vibrant contrast with brighter colors. The Artist Ultra 14 boasts a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and supports 99% Adobe RGB coverage.

Unlike the large-screen model, it doesn't require a specific setup location, and its thin, lightweight design makes it suitable for use not only at a home desk but also for taking it out on the go. Supporting a 90Hz display and a response time of less than 1ms, it offers smooth drawing performance despite its compact size.

If you "want to draw extensively on a large screen," choose the Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2). If you "want to carry and use a high-quality OLED display," choose the Artist Ultra 14. These are two devices with quite different characteristics. The interesting aspect of the XPPen booth is being able to compare the actual devices to experience the pen tracking, which is hard to grasp from a spec sheet alone, and the beauty of OLED's unique blacks.
