FamilyMart began selling "Oni-Kanabo Supervised Karashibi Miso Ramen," a frozen ramen supervised by "Karashibi Miso Ramen Oni-Kanabo," a popular ramen restaurant in Kanda, Tokyo, on October 20. The price is 354 yen.

This isn't the first collaboration between Oni-Kanabo and FamilyMart. They have previously sold cup noodles such as "Karashibi Miso Ramen" and "Karashibi Mazesoba." This time, however, it's making its debut as a frozen food product. Apparently, this is Oni-Kanabo's first time supervising a frozen food item.

Approximately 8 Minutes in the Microwave! Oni-Kanabo's Frozen Miso Ramen

"Oni-Kanabo" is known for its rich miso ramen that combines the spiciness ("kara") of chili peppers with the numbing sensation ("shibi") of Sansho pepper.

This time, Oni-Kanabo has supervised a frozen ramen. The manufacturer is Nissin Frozen Foods.

The soup uses a rich miso blend of red and white miso. It combines chili pepper spices with the numbing sensation of Sichuan pepper (hua jiao) and the aroma of charred black garlic oil (kogashi kuro ma-yu), resulting in a stimulating and rich flavor.

For the noodles, they've adopted "rankiri-men" (randomly cut noodles), which combines three different thicknesses.

To prepare, simply place the frozen noodles in a bowl, pour in 200ml of water, and heat directly in the microwave. Heating time is approximately 8 minutes at 500W or 7 minutes at 600W. Finally, add the separate packet of charred black garlic oil and mix, and it's ready.

Enjoy that Numbing Spiciness with Ease!

I tried it!

When Nabeko actually tried it, the aroma was splendid! While it's numbing and spicy, it's not just intensely stimulating; it has a profound depth of flavor. The addition of the charred black garlic oil also provides a solid richness.

Since the noodles are "rankiri-men," the varying thickness makes them feel just like those from a restaurant. The texture changes slightly with each bite, and the soup clings to them perfectly.

Although the preparation method of adding water and heating in the microwave was a bit unusual, it's amazing how easily such a rich-souped ramen can be completed!

This spicy, body-warming frozen noodle dish is perfect for the coming season.

By the way, it's also recommended to prepare chashu pork and bean sprouts separately as toppings.
