Elecom released new colors for its NESTOUT carbon monoxide alarm, part of its outdoor brand, in early October. The lineup includes two types: a 3in1 model equipped with a thermometer and hygrometer, and a BASIC model specialized for carbon monoxide detection. Prices range from 10,980 yen to 17,980 yen.
The new "NESTOUT Carbon Monoxide Alarm" is an outdoor safety device that adopts a high-performance Japanese-made sensor from Figaro Engineering. Equipped with a sensor from a company boasting world-class production volume in the gas sensor field, it ensures stability, being resistant to humidity changes and less prone to false alarms from gases other than CO. Furthermore, in addition to a 10-year long-life design, all mass-produced units undergo sensitivity adjustment and display value inspection using actual carbon monoxide.
The product is USB Type-C rechargeable, capable of approximately 5 days of continuous operation on a full charge. The estimated charging time is about 2.5 hours, making it easy to recharge with a mobile battery even if the battery runs out during camping. It features a self-diagnosis function to detect sensor malfunctions and a backlit LCD for easy visibility even in dark places. Alarm volume can be selected from three levels: high, low, and mute.
The 3in1 model incorporates a thermometer and hygrometer, simultaneously displaying temperature and humidity in addition to CO detection. It features a high-precision compensation function that corrects for fluctuations in temperature, aging, and battery voltage, ensuring display accuracy in outdoor environments. Its dustproof and waterproof performance complies with IP54 rating, protecting the unit from sand, dust, rain, and moisture inside tents. It also includes a foldable stand, enhancing its ease of placement.
The BASIC model is a simpler specification focused solely on carbon monoxide detection, but it inherits the three compensation functions that account for fluctuations in temperature, aging, and battery voltage. It is also easy to use as a backup unit for users who already own a CO alarm. The new colors, in addition to the existing black, include sand beige and jet black. Specifically, the 3in1 model will be available in sand beige and jet black, while the BASIC model will be available in sand beige.
The accessories are also practical. In addition to a shock-absorbing film to protect the screen from scratches and dirt, models OD-NESTCOM1AJB and OD-NESTCOS1ABE come with an original strap with a rotating shaft, allowing adjustment to an easy-to-view angle. A carabiner is also included, making it easy to attach to bags or tent hooks.
