SORACOM announced it will begin offering a new starter kit on October 14 through its device e-commerce site, "SORACOM IoT Store." The kit bundles the "+F FS040U" LTE USB dongle with a "SORACOM IoT SIM." It will be priced at 23,804 yen (tax included, shipping extra).
The "+F FS040U" is an LTE Cat.4 compatible USB dongle designed for IoT devices and enterprise applications. It enables cellular communication by connecting to a USB port on Windows or Linux-based devices and configuring it with a dedicated tool. Measuring approximately 95.0 (W) x 32.0 (D) x 12.2 (H) mm (when the USB connector is retracted) and weighing about 39g, its compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for integration into existing equipment or for use in space-constrained environments.
The standard configuration upon provision is secure connection mode. Users can choose between dial-up (RAS) using the modem via a dedicated tool or connection via a network adapter (NDIS). It also supports AT command control, allowing for flexible integration with various IoT systems. A notable feature is its "★1" certification under "JC-STAR," the security conformity labeling system for IoT products, making it a suitable choice for business deployments with stringent security requirements.
The starter kit includes the "+F FS040U" unit, a SORACOM Air SIM card plan-K2 (trio/multi-size) (K2-500MB), and a 2,000 yen coupon for SORACOM service usage. The coupon is valid for 6 months and is applicable only to services with Japan coverage. The usable country/region is Japan.
