ASUS Japan has begun accepting pre-orders from September 17th for the "ROG XBOX Ally X20" portable gaming console, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand, and the "ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle," which includes a 20th-anniversary set. The release date is October 16th, with the ROG XBOX Ally X20 priced at 258,800 yen and the ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle at 442,800 yen. Purchases will be accepted sequentially at sales partners such as the official ASUS online store ASUS Store, Amazon.co.jp, Edion, K's Denki, Kojima, Joshin, Sofmap, PC Kobo, Bic Camera, Yamada Denki, and Yodobashi Camera.
A major feature of the ROG XBOX Ally X20 is its AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, allowing users to enjoy AAA titles with high performance and power efficiency. It adopts the "ROG Nebula HDR Display," a 7.4-inch OLED display, the first in the ROG Ally series, significantly enhancing visual expression with a 120Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, VESA Display HDR 1400 certification, and Dolby Vision support. In terms of controls, it features TMR joysticks, a variable D-Pad, and redesigned ABXY buttons, aiming for precise input and comfortable operation despite being a handheld device.
The chassis features a black and gold translucent design, matching the "ROG Edition 20," with a 20th-anniversary logo on the back. Furthermore, it is equipped with ergonomically shaped rubber grips and the "ROG Intelligent Cooling System," designed for extended play sessions. It boasts 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD, ensuring expandability and convenience with features like USB4, USB 3.2 Type-C, a microSD Express compatible card reader, and a fingerprint sensor.
The special edition ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle includes, in addition to the console itself, the "ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20" gaming AR glasses, a Pelican protector case, and a dbrand Killswitch accessory. Using the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 allows for a virtual screen display equivalent to up to 171 inches, providing an immersive experience akin to a large screen even with a handheld device. ASUS also plans to showcase the device for the first time in Japan at the ROG booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17th to 21st.
