Yamaha will launch "YSL-CLDDNS," a new DNS security expansion license for routers, on November 17 as a new network security product. Compatible models include "YSL-CLDDNS-R2-1Y" and "YSL-CLDDNS-R2-5Y" for the RTX840, and "YSL-CLDDNS-R3-1Y" and "YSL-CLDDNS-R3-5Y" for the RTX1300, with prices ranging from 33,000 yen to 495,000 yen. By setting the license key, delivered after purchase, to the target router, this product allows for easy implementation of malware infection and information leakage countermeasures, complementing existing perimeter defenses.
YSL-CLDDNS is an expansion license designed to be user-friendly even for small and medium-sized businesses and SOHOs, which often face a shortage of security personnel. It can be activated simply by setting the license key from the Yamaha router's Web GUI, monitoring and controlling DNS traffic under the router regardless of the terminal or OS. A key feature is that threat detection is performed on the Yamaha security server, minimizing impact on the router's throughput. Compatible routers are the RTX840 and RTX1300, and a revision update to the latest firmware, scheduled for release on November 17, is required for use.
In terms of functionality, it redirects access to malicious destinations or unauthorized categories to a block page, preventing the spread of damage within the company. It adopts OpenText Threat Intelligence for threat intelligence, supporting 13 types of threat detection and 82 types of category identification. Furthermore, status confirmation and policy changes are possible from both the Web GUI and CLI, allowing for flexible management tailored to on-site operations by setting threat policies, category policies, exception policies, and split policies.
Prices are 33,000 yen for the 1-year license "YSL-CLDDNS-R2-1Y" for the RTX840, 165,000 yen for the 5-year license "YSL-CLDDNS-R2-5Y", 99,000 yen for the 1-year license "YSL-CLDDNS-R3-1Y" for the RTX1300, and 495,000 yen for the 5-year license "YSL-CLDDNS-R3-5Y". A dedicated support desk for purchasers is also scheduled to open in late November, assisting with initial setup and resolving operational issues.
