Bang & Olufsen's "Beosound A9," from the Danish audio brand, is a speaker with a truly commanding design presence. Its enclosure, reminiscent of a parabolic antenna or a giant dish, is large with a diameter of approximately 70cm, and can be freestanding on three legs or wall-mounted.

Beneath its fabric-covered surface, it is equipped with two 3/4-inch tweeters (150W + 150W), two 3-inch midrange units (200W + 200W), two 1.5-inch full-range units (200W + 200W), and one 8-inch woofer (400W). These seven units are driven by seven independent Class-D amplifiers (totaling 1500W), utilizing proprietary signal processing technology for control.

While the latest is the 5th generation, a new model featuring "Woolscape Mineral Red," crafted by Kvadrat, a renowned Danish textile manufacturer, also appeared in September. That is the "Beosound A9 Sienna Brown."

Bang & Olufsen was founded in 1925, and Kvadrat in 1968. The collaboration between these two companies, both valuing Nordic tradition and innovation, explores how materials, colors, and sound can enhance the living space experience, pursuing the possibilities of design.

Woolscape Mineral Red

Woolscape Mineral Red is a custom-made double-knit fabric developed for Bang & Olufsen as a joint project between "Kvadrat Febrik" and the Swedish design duo "Front." It was created by photographing and 3D scanning the textures and colors of Swedish forests, snowy landscapes, and lake shores, then transforming them into a three-dimensional textile. Its tapestry-like surface changes expression depending on the light and surrounding environment, bringing rich depth to the space. It expresses textures, structures, and colors inspired by the natural world.

At the same time, precise verification has been repeatedly conducted with consideration for sound transparency. The material, weave structure, and color tones have been meticulously adjusted, ensuring that the high acoustic performance required by the Beosound A9 is not compromised while maintaining a delicate texture and tactile feel.

With the Beosound A9 Sienna Brown at its core, a gallery-style new product exhibition was held in Hiroo, Tokyo, on October 27th.

Here, as one of the results of the "Art of the A9" art project, which envisions the Beosound A9 as a canvas, a special edition featuring artwork printed by Seoul-based artist Woo Kukwon was on display. This "Art of the A9 with Woo Kukwon" edition is planned to be sold as a limited run of 98 units in Korea and Japan.

Upon closer inspection, the Beoplay H100 is also depicted.

The new Sienna Brown color for the Beosound A9 extends a deep brown from the main unit to its three brushed aluminum legs, and is combined with a Woolscape Mineral Red cover composed of four harmonious color tones. The contrast between the precision of the aluminum material and the soft warmth of the knit fabric is said to be a key design point.

Furthermore, the Woolscape cover can be attached not only to the Sienna Brown model but also to existing Black Anthracite, Gold Tone, and Natural Aluminium models. The Beosound A9 Sienna Brown, which includes the Woolscape Mineral Red cover, is priced at 714,000 yen.

Existing models use oak material for the legs, and the paint finish on the aluminum frame parts also differs.

Even the power cable uses fabric matching the product, showing attention to detail.

The power cable for the Beosound A9 Sienna Brown uses a thinner design than previous models.

The "Beosound A5" with Charcoal Knit fabric was also on display at the venue.
