Sam Altman, CEO of US-based OpenAI, has changed his display name on X to "Ram Altman". As of November 4, his username remains the original "@sama". In a post on the same day, he advocated that humans should retain control of the future.

Altman has drawn backlash for his comments regarding the utilization efficiency of DRAM installed in personal PCs, and Elon Musk has also posted a mocking image on X.

The controversy originated from remarks made during an interview program "Cheeky Pint" released on October 29. Touching on the topic of running AI on personal PCs, Altman argued that the situation where limited-supply DRAM is distributed across individual PCs and used only about 5% of the time might be inefficient as a global resource allocation.

The November 4 post, however, was not about memory but about the relationship between superintelligence and humans. Altman stated, "People should always retain control of the future," and expressed opposition to the idea that humans would only perform actions deemed valuable enough for AI to reward them.
