Value Design and its parent company, PayCloud Holdings, announced on October 23 that 1,424,748 records of ID numbers, PIN numbers, and balance information were leaked after unauthorized access to the server for their house electronic money issuing service, "Value Card."
House electronic money refers to prepaid payment methods independently issued by stores and companies. The unauthorized access was confirmed on October 19. The breakdown of the leaked records includes 569,224 issued IDs and 855,524 unissued IDs that had not yet been purchased by end-users.
Mos Food Services, a client that uses the service and entrusts server operation and maintenance to Value Design, also announced on October 23 that Value Design's system suffered unauthorized access, resulting in the leak of 1,133,070 records of information related to their prepaid card, "Mos Card." The breakdown includes approximately 570,000 circulated cards and approximately 560,000 uncirculated cards. The affected data includes 16-digit card numbers, 6-digit PIN numbers, and balance information, but does not include names, addresses, phone numbers, or credit card information.
To prevent unauthorized use, Mos Food has forcibly changed the PIN numbers of the affected cards. While stating there are no issues with using the cards in stores, for online orders, or "Order at Your Table" services, Mos Food requests users to contact a dedicated support desk if they are unable to check their balance on the web, register for the official app, or make guest purchases using Mos Card for online orders.
